I agree, and the lack of big emoting feels grown up. It also might be because they're all still in shock from seeing the chestburster.
 
Yes, interesting to consider did they not really know him or were they still in shock.
 
It's kinda like an oil rig in space, without the social interaction as they're asleep most of the time.

It's not all clean and shiny and new. This is no longer 2001, and people aboard spacecraft are normal like you and me, not glamorous astronauts.
